Santa Rosa Plateau Ecological Reserve Visitor Center Improvement Project, Riverside, Calif.
As co-lead consultant, In-Site did site analysis, conceptual design, photo simulations, construction docs/admin. for the visitor center on the 8,300-acre eco-reserve. The design includes an ADA-accessible interpretive trail, five native plant groups, entry improvements, monument signs, interpretive/educational features, covered stage, event patio and more parking. Special elements are embossed leaf motifs of native plants; engraved animal tracks on boulders; a life-size weathered-steel mountain lion; 13 Native American acorn-grinding stones; an expansive deck over a riparian wetland; salvaged onsite boulders; and masonry features constructed of local basalt to match the historic cowboy adobe site walls.
