This is a Neo-classical estate with lots of custom features. The pool has a 25M swim lane, sunken fire pit area, custom pergola with automatic louvers for sun and rain protection, custom hand carved limestone planters and benches, secret gardens, fruit gardens with winding paths, full size soccer field, in-ground trampoline, large beach along the lake edge, boat dock, large fountain, sandstone driveway pavers, and custom limestone balustrades and steps with custom lighting. The planting scheme is classic and stately, but not tropical, except for many tropical fruits in the gardens. De Lac photo credit: Matuzak Photography

We provided planting and hardscape design for this high-tech STEM school with a focus on sustainability and Florida history. This project is modern twist on an Italian style lakeside villa. Custom fire features in the pool, palm trees with 'coconut" speakers in islands in the pool, oversized spa, custom lighted glass troughs to look like water around the fireplace seating area, shoreline garden with Florida native plants, and working gardens that are used by their chef to feed the family. There is a world class recording studio attached to the outdoor living area that helps make a unique and spectacular space for entertaining or enjoying sunsets with family and friends.

Founded in 1992 with a passion for creative and progressive landscape architecture, Redmon Design Company strives to make each project visually striking and memorable, performing to its highest potential. We place equal emphasis on carefully listening to our clients' requests and needs and analyzing the physical opportunities and constraints unique to each project, while carefully weaving sustainable principles into the fabric of expression. Our firm consists of Scott Redmon, principal and lead designer; Jeanie Redmon, vice president, merchandise manager and designer; and Brent Graham, senior project manager and head of the Auto CAD department.

Editor's Note: With the ASLA annual meeting and EXPO in Miami canceled this year due to safety concerns amid the COVID-19 health pandemic, LASN still wanted to highlight the landscape architectural work of firms from the southeast region. LASN asked the firms to send us a short biographical profile, plus photography from selected projects, with a brief description of the design work for each project. We let the firms speak for themselves in their profiles and in describing the projects, although some editing was required because of space restraints and not all photography and projects could be included. Thank you, firms of Florida and Alabama for participating!

As seen in LASN magazine, September 2020.
