This new facility is a 30,000-square-foot, medically integrated fitness center to encourage a healthy lifestyle. It is complemented with a series of gardens that allow outdoor activities and mental relaxation. The main plaza is designed with a series of vegetable and herb gardens used at the in-house caf???(C). As a subconsultant to the architect, we provided site planning, hardscape, lighting, landscape, and irrigation design, as well as construction observation.

West Bay Street Beautification, Nassau, Bahamas
Foster Conant & Associates, Inc. provided master planning, hardscape, lighting, landscape, and irrigation design, as prime consultant to the owner, for this one mile, relocated portion of West Bay Street at Cable Beach that became a necessity to accommodate the Baha Mar Resort. Sweeping away from striking Caribbean waters, this roadway had to be designed with its own sense of place. As one of the most beautiful streets in the Bahama islands, it weaves itself through lush garden spaces, engages the edge of lakes, and the unique Royal Blue Golf Course. FCA was also involved over a 5-year period in the design of the resort, West Bay Street, and the golf course.
AdventHealth Wesley Chapel, Wesley Chapel, FL
This new AdventHealth hospital, located at Wesley Chapel, has a distinctive circular campus, which allowed for parking in the front with a central linear fountain and two healing gardens between the radial spokes of the patient wings. Serving as a subconsultant to the architect, we provided site planning, hardscape, fountain design, architectural appointments, landscape, and irrigation design, as well as construction observation.

We were established in Central Florida in 1969 by founder, Bert T. Foster.Over the last 50 years, the firm, led by president Richard Conant and vice president Matthew Allen, has adapted to both economic and market needs. Foster Conant has designed projects throughout the southeastern United States and southern Caribbean. Our project portfolio gives us the strong background to understand how to make bold statements with landscape, enhancing functional hardscapes and amenities. The firm, which currently employs nine people, is a blend of seasoned professionals and young emerging talent consisting of two registered principals, associate principal, and three Sr. associate registered landscape architects including one LEED AP, landscape designer, and two office administrators.

Editor's Note: With the ASLA annual meeting and EXPO in Miami canceled this year due to safety concerns amid the COVID-19 health pandemic, LASN still wanted to highlight the landscape architectural work of firms from the southeast region. LASN asked the firms to send us a short biographical profile, plus photography from selected projects, with a brief description of the design work for each project. We let the firms speak for themselves in their profiles and in describing the projects, although some editing was required because of space restraints and not all photography and projects could be included. Thank you, firms of Florida and Alabama for participating!

As seen in LASN magazine, September 2020.
