Scott Byron and Co., Inc.

The company was founded by Scott Byron, RLA to provide great landscape design, quality construction and maintenance service for the high-end residential market. It was among the first firms to bring all three of these services to the Chicago residential market and the model has allowed it to grow as a leader in this market.

All designers have a bachelors and/or masters degree in landscape architecture. The majority of work is residential but projects include urban open spaces, botanic gardens and roof top gardens. The design work may incorporate a series of hand drawings and sketches as well as computer generated images. All designers use AutoCAD in the preparation of construction drawings. Several individuals use Sketch-up and Photoshop for presentation work.

The firm’s philosophy is that designers should be well versed in theory and practice. Imagination is most successful when implementation is possible. Construction project managers are trained in design and continue the design intent as the project is built. Upon completion, maintenance project managers maintain the intent as the design matures. The client is always the focus of the project and the employees concentrate on providing them with the experience and the landscape that reflects that.

Urban Courtyard, Chicago

A modern home with clean forms and materials became the inspiration for a courtyard garden that offers a quiet urban retreat. The sound of water and the rustling of a grove of aspen trees soften city noises. Level changes helped create outdoor rooms for entertaining, dining and cooking, relaxing and reading for this empty nester couple.

Suburban Country Home, Highland Park

Scott Byron and Co. created a garden retreat organized around a new naturalistic pool/spa and waterfalls and pool house. Using the naturally sloping topography, the garden and pool were carved into the landscape, framed by the surrounding naturally wooded property. Cascading gardens of natural outcropping and plantings and stone steps, unify the gardens with the main house.
