Garfield Park Conservatory City Garden, Chicago

Hoerr Schaudt assisted the Chicago Park District in creating a world-class botanic destination on the grounds of the Garfield Park Conservatory. This urban garden draws upon the surrounding community’s re-emergence as well as the park’s historic roots, which include noted landscape pioneer, Jens Jensen. The garden uses free flowing planting design, sculpted landforms and pathway ribbons, rather than defined garden rooms, to create a rich botanical experience.

900 N. Michigan Avenue, Chicago

 Located in the heart of Chicago, the garden for this urban residence balances the client’s desire to feel a connection to city life while maintaining a sense of privacy and space to appreciate natural beauty. Residents enjoy views of a courtyard, gravel garden and broad lawn from within their home throughout the seasons. A screened porch links the intimate gravel garden with the side garden, and is blanketed by a green roof that cools the open-air space in the summer.
