The Brusseau Design Group, LLC in Hoffman Estates, Ill. was formed in 1993 as a professional and competitive landscape architecture, land planning and recreational planning firm to provide services to park districts, municipalities, architects, engineers, developers, school districts and private athletic organizations. The firm specializes in park and recreational planning and design and excels in creating functional, creative and unique play spaces.

The firm is headed by Joseph Brusseau, a 1984 graduate of the University of Illinois with a BS in landscape architecture. Mr. Brusseau has more than 25 years of experience in park and recreation design and landscape architecture. The staff includes two principals, two associates and one professional engineer. To produce exhibits and documents the firm uses AutoCAD, SketchUP, Photoshop and Horticopia.






Veterans Park, Skokie Park District, Skokie, Ill.

Veterans Park is a small urban park located along Lincoln Avenue in downtown Skokie. The park district envisioned a passive space for reflection, a memorial park to honor veterans and a gateway to the downtown. The firm?EUR??,,????'?????<




Prairie View Park Playground Renovation, Morton Grove Park District, Morton Grove, Ill.

Prairie View Park is a community park and location of the administrative offices of both the Morton Grove Park District and the Maine Niles Association of Special Recreation (MNASR). Brusseau Design Group, LLC was hired to complete a playground renovation. In addition to swing areas and several play structures, an area was designed to challenge and provide unique play opportunities for children with all abilities. An interactive sound bollard plays a variety of sounds when sensors in the rubber play surfacing are depressed. Play surfacing was a combination of engineered wood fiber and cast-in-place rubber surfacing.






Island Prairie Park, Frankfort, Ill.

The Brusseau Design Group was retained to design an interactive water playground with a picnic shelter, seating areas, walk paths and extensive landscape improvements at Island Praire Park. Special attention was given to make the water playground an asset for the Frankfort Square Park District pre-school, located in the Community Center adjacent to the park. The restrooms and vending area were strategically planned to service the water playground.
