BDS Design Group, Inc.

BDS Design Group, Inc. is a small interdisciplinary land design and planning firm in Wheaton, Ill., providing landscape design, land planning, civil engineering design and sustainable planning and design. BDS was started in 1997. The staff includes a registered landscape architect, a land planner, a LEED certified designer and office support personnel. The firm’s philosophy is providing sound design based on logic, study and a deep understanding of client needs.

Congo River Adventure Golf, Miniature Golfing Facility, Hoffman Estates, Ill.

BDS was contracted by the architects who were working with Congo Golf to add an additional 18 holes to the miniature golf course. The firm provided an existing plant material analysis and recommendations on blending in the future golf holes and landscaping into the existing facility. The course had to be aesthetically pleasing, but also handicapped accessible.

Private Residence, Aurora, Ill.

The clients asked BDS Design Group to help them create a landscape plan for their residence. They were concerned about an area in front that had some drainage problems. This area was constantly wet and had washed silt over the driveway during heavy storms. To help alleviate the rain runoff and beautify the area, BDS designed a rain garden using native plantings and materials.

Veterans Memorial Plaza, Village of North Aurora

This project was initiated by the North Aurora Veterans Memorial Committee to honor village residents who have served in the military. The plaza is a 60-foot diameter site, with a water feature in the center and a curved monument wall inset into an existing landscape berm. Five stone pedestals in a semicircular pattern are placed around a small fountain that is a setting for quiet reflection and tranquility. Atop each pedestal is a bronze emblem of one branch of the armed services.
