LRC Announces First-Ever Fiber Optic Lighting Institute

TROY, NY

The Lighting Research Center (LRC) has announced its first-ever Fiber Optic Lighting Institute to be held June 23-25, 1999 at the LRC's laboratory facilities in Watervliet, NY. The LRC welcomes Landscape Architects, designers, contractors, and lighting specifiers who want to learn more about fiber optic lighting technology and applications. Participants will learn how to specify, install, commission and maintain fiber optic lighting systems and will earn a Lighting Institute Continuing Education Certificate and three CEUs for completing the three-day course of study.

The seminar will be led by Dr. Narendran of the LRC, an expert in fiber optic technology and performance of fiber optic systems. Special sections in design will be led by Janet Lennox Moyer and Howard Brandston. Moyer, a renowned lighting designer (See LASN April 1997, "Have You Considered Composite Lighting?), has created fiber optic systems in numerous outdoor residential and commercial lighting applications. Brandston has designed lighting for many of the world's best known landmarks and downtown areas, including the Statue of Liberty and New York's Battery Park Promenade.

For more information or to register, contact Dan Frering of the LRC at 518-276-8716 or email frerid@rpi.edu.
