LASN Staff Members found Lightfair 1997 to be a very illuminating experience... (sorry, couldn't resist!) Amidst the ever-exciting backdrop of New York City, the glitter (and glare) of landscape lighting products, and the excitement of the lighting designers attending the trade show-- LASN sources in the Big Apple proclaimed fiber-optics to be the "lighting of the future."

With practically endless (even underwater) applications, fiber-optic lighting is energy-efficient and requires minimal maintenance. No heat or ultraviolet rays are played on delicate plant material. Both glass and plastic fixtures are available. To assist Landscape Architects, lighting designers basically need to know where the light source can be conveniently accessed, and what kind of ambient light exists.
