Yellowstone National Park recently experience several rainfalls that led to significant flooding in different areas throughout the park resulting several roadways being damaged. In response, the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) issued two parcels of Emergency Relief funds to the National Park Service, the Montana Department of Transportation, the Wyoming Department of Transportation, and the US Forest Service.

 

The first set of funds from FHWA totaled $65 million and were issued on June 23. The majority of the funding went towards the National Park Service's efforts to reopen the roads and prevent further damage from flooding. The Wyoming and Montana Departments of Transportation were also given $2 million and $3 million respectively.

The second installment was sent on July 1 and amounted to $5.7 million to the US Forest Service. The second wave of funds was aimed towards repairing bridges and roads to the Custer Gallatin National Forest which is connected to Yellowstone.
