Falls Church, Va.—Brad Cahoon, an outstanding high school senior from Hurricane, Utah, was awarded a $1,000 by the Irrigation Association Education Foundation scholarship through the Future Farmers of America program.
In addition to maintaining a 3.7 grade point average in high school, Cahoon has put in nearly 1,400 hours of work-related experience in the green industry since beginning high school. He plans to attend Dixie College in Utah this fall with a focus on landscape architecture.
Cahoon?EUR??,,????'???s experience includes maintenance, design, construction and installation of landscapes, learning about watering systems, installation of sprinkler systems and writing bids for potential customers. Over his four-year high school work program, he has been mentored on how to run a landscaping business.
