"Femmes Fescue" Debut at Lawn, Garden & Power Equipment EXPO

"Cherchez the grass," was one joke going around the International Lawn, Garden & Power Equipment EXPO, referring to seeking out the human embodiments of fescue grass.

Equipment expos attract plenty of attention, but some attendees at the International Lawn, Garden & Power Equipment EXPO (Sept. 24-26 in Louisville, Ky) may have been particularly diverted by the marketing ploy for EverRide Warrior and Hornet zero-turn radius mowers, a trio of women draped in green outfits that combine Tinker Bell meets Peter Pan.

"Think Charlie's Angels meet Kentucky bluegrass," observed Van Voorhis, sales manager for EverRide. The company calls the green-clad women "Femmes Fescue."

"The idea for the characters evolved from our advertising campaign designed around The Daily Fescue, which is a mock newspaper written 'By The Grass-For The Grass.' In the Fescue, sensational headlines and articles describe encounters with EverRide zero-turn radius lawn mowers as told from the grasses' point of view," Van Voorhis explained.

The costumes are described as "tea-length design with dew drops stitched into the green fabric resembling individual blades of grass that form the skirt."

The ladies, aka, the Green Guardians, will appear in print advertisements and a point-of sale dealer kits containing banner, ceiling danglers, CD with images, brochures and a video.
