Garrett Eckbo graduated from The University of California Berkeley in 1935 and Harvard University in 1938. He has found much success in the practice of environmental planning, urban design, teaching, and writing while working with the University of California Berkeley. His success has not gone unnoticed as he has been the recipient of many awards including the Harvard Award for Professional Writing in 1976. This lead to his induction as a Fellow of the American Society of Landscape Architects in 1962.
