Gerdo Aquino is president and principal of SWA Group's Los Angeles Studio, a 100 percent employee-owned firm. He established the SWA Los Angeles office in 2005 and has since expanded the practice into Asia. He sees his practice as a dynamic mix of landscape architecture and urban design, focusing on urban and suburban infill sites that are under-used or abandoned. He has extensive experience in the analysis and planning of ecological corridors and repurposed streets and plazas in North America, China and Latin America.
