Jerry Smith was nominated in the Service Category by the Ohio Chapter. In addition to his formative work in designing healing environments, he has transformed market processes through evidence-based design. From the outset of his career, he has demonstrated the proactive effectiveness of serving on committees and boards of nonprofit organizations committed to great change. He has long been the sole landscape architect on the Environmental Standards Council of the Center for Health Design and serves on the Green Guide for Health Care Steering Committee and the SITES Technical Core Committee. In those capacities, he has established that therapeutic landscapes are necessary for healthful, sustainable design solutions.
