Douglas Hays has provided design services for presidents and a pope. Early in his career he worked as the National Park Service landscape architect assigned to the White House during the Ford, Carter, Reagan, and Clinton administrations. He also worked on the Mass on the Mall for Pope John Paul II. In private practice, his works span from the National Zoo master plan in Washington, to the Normandy American Cemetery Visitors Center in France. His creative solutions are a blend of established principles and the latest technologies. He is equally comfortable in the public or private sector, and the range of his skill reaches from regional planning to construction detailing at full scale.
