Most notable professional accomplishments: Since founding his firm in 1990, Hoerr has designed sophisticated landscapes that reflect his interest in creating spaces of mystery and discovery, story and sequence. His work consistently brings careful attention to the experience of a landscape throughout all four seasons, focusing on the ?EUR??,,????'??skeleton?EUR??,,????'??? of the landscape to establish a structure of pattern, form, and texture that is dynamic even in the bleakest months. His influence on Chicago?EUR??,,????'???s public realm is significant. His median designs for Michigan Avenue sparked a city-wide streetscape greening trend and have influenced civic greening throughout the country. For the past nine years, he has been active on several City of Chicago committees that establish and direct landscape design criteria, guidelines, policy and programming. At educational institutions, Hoerr?EUR??,,????'???s designs have created enduring places of community and connection, including the landscape master plan and implementation for Loyola University Chicago and the award-winning landscape master plan and implementation for North Park University. For over a decade, Mr. Hoerr?EUR??,,????'???s residential designs have been regularly featured in national publications, included in national garden tours annually, recognized with design awards and have been the focus of dozens of lecture requests. Thoughts on being elected to Council of Fellows: To be selected by a jury of my peers for recognition of my design work is very satisfying and validating. There are some days when I am surprised when I look up from my desk to see 28 talented and motivated staff working for me and receiving this award gives me the same feeling!
