The work that is my ?EUR??,,????'??most notable accomplishment,?EUR??,,????'?? (and we all tend to use the pronoun I, but most of us know that our accomplishments were all achievable because others were a part of our process and our work) was that we were able to plan and build spaces in the fire of the Bronx in New York City in the dark period of 1979-1984. These opportunities were tests to see how we might react. Would we get in and get out quickly as so many had before us, or would we really try to stay and make spaces that were vehicles for change and engagement. The places we built 30 years ago are still in place today and they immediately became and continue to be the center of a community that still is rebuilding.

Thoughts on being elected to Council of Fellows: After years of practice and service, being invited to join the community of Fellows and by their election, their faith in me, is an affirmation of the very faith that I had in those very same neighborhoods I first had the privilege of working in 25 years ago. Fellowship also means that I?EUR??,,????'???m not as young as I used to be!
