Most notable professional accomplishments:

Assisting the growth and transformation of the profession of Landscape Architecture in Iowa, and helping to increase recognition and awareness of the profession and it?EUR??,,????'???s perception by the general public are the most significant accomplishments of my career. When I started as a Landscape Architect for the State of Iowa in 1958, there was one single-person Landscape Architects office in the state. This grew to two when I opened my office doors in 1965. Today, in various forms, there are well over 15 Landscape Architectural practices within the state, plus several design build firms led by Landscape Architects. Elevating the role of Landscape Architects on projects has been important to me, and today many multidiscipline projects are being led by Landscape Architects. This reinforces the importance of the discipline and the value a landscape architect brings as a key team member to any project.

Thoughts on being elected to Council of Fellows: Being selected a Fellow by my peers is an extreme honor and the ultimate achievement of my career as a Landscape Architect. I am pleased to be recognized and acknowledged for my efforts assisting in the development of the profession of Landscape Architecture in the Midwest, and helping to create a broader public awareness and appreciation of the work performed by Landscape Architects. I feel privileged to be recognized for my mentoring of young people entering the profession and helping to positively reinforce their career choice. I am proud of these achievements and look forward to continuing this effort. I am honored by my election as a Fellow and proud to be selected for this tribute.
