Most notable professional accomplishments: The design professions provide a window on life that few other professions offer. Comprehensive experience is essential to finding profound design and planning solutions. A lifetime of observation and exposure to learning and teaching others is required influence the course of projects, to make them legacy opportunities. The significant accomplishment in my career has been to gain the greatest range of experience through reading, travel, critical thinking, risk-taking, and teaching. I have taken the risks and had great fortune to be mentored and to begin to offer back. My greatest accomplishment is to make my colleagues more capable than I was. My goal is to attract and nurture smart people to be great leaders of landscape architecture.

Thoughts on being elected to Council of Fellows: Fellowship is an honor for performance past. Fellowship affirms my future obligations to mentor others. Fellowship causes me to think about the maximum strategic contributions that I can make in my practice and to the profession.
