Most notable professional accomplishments: (From MASLA Chapter Statement of Support) - Scott Bradley is one of those rare landscape architects whose work, leadership and advocacy has risen from local and state to national and international influence ...and in a field of state government not typically known for landscape architecture leaders. Scott has led and empowered landscape architects and allied professions in award winning achievements in professional excellence, collaboration and innovation. EXCELLENCE. Scott's leadership is seen by many colleagues and stakeholders as responsible for leveraging higher standards for materials and performance in the landscape industry and for elevating the success and reputation of MN/DOT's landscape programs, guidelines, best practices, standards, specifications and training as among the very best in the country. In 1995, Scott not only received the National Arbor Day Foundation's Joyce Kilmer Award (for the Individual Contributing the Most to Tree Planting, Conservation, and Environmental Stewardship at a State Level) but on the 25th Anniversary of Earth Day, also received the Federal Highway Administration's first Environmental Excellence Award for Public Involvement in developing and deploying a Community Partnership Program that served as a national model. COLLABORATION. Collaborative visioning and alliance building whether at a local, national or international level are at the heart of Scott's work ... Scott is the face of landscape architecture to many - from District Engineers to environmental activists to town boards to national transportation officials. Scott has been sought out and visited by transportation and environmental professionals from more than 15 countries and has been a featured presenter at state or national conferences in more than 16 states and Canadian provinces. INNOVATION. Scott has risen to the forefront in the newest approaches to transportation planning and project development - Context Sensitive Design & Solutions. The selection of Scott to Chair and form the National Transportation Research Board's Task Force on Context Sensitive Design & Solutions attests to the credibility, respect and influence he has earned through landscape architectural leadership, relationship building, collaboration and the "bridging of gaps" between landscape architecture and many other professional and scientific disciplines. Numerous programs, projects and initiatives under Scott's direction have won many state and national awards for excellence and innovation.
Thoughts on being elected to Council of Fellows: I feel awed by the realization that professional peers and colleagues, that I admire and respect the most, have actually recognized me for extraordinary professional work over a sustained period of time. It cannot help but energize and motivate me to do more in service to the profession of landscape architecture.
