Thoughts on being elected to Council of Fellows: This is a tremendous honor, and I am very humbled to be in the company of a very distinguished list ASLA Fellows. I am additionally very appreciative of the efforts of my Chapter in developing the nomination. I have enjoyed hearing from many former students after the ASLA Fellows list was announced. As an educator I don't have a huge portfolio of significant built works of landscape architecture. However, my sense of landscape architectural achievement has always been derived from appreciating the role I might have played in helping to create professional people...graduates who have become chapter presidents or trustees, who are associated with successful practices, or who have won ASLA awards, or who have published books and articles. In thinking about the honor of becoming a fellow of the ASLA, and in beginning my 25th year of teaching, I'm very aware that the hundreds of students I've known over the years are very important to my own feelings of professional accomplishment.
