Ellis L. Antunez Title: Assistant Dean College: Truckee Meadows Community College Location: Reno, Nevada Education: University of Nevada Years in Profession: 26 Member of ASLA since: 1982 ASLA Chapter: Sierra Category: Administrative Most Notable Projects: 1) Old U.S. Hwy 40 business corridor revitalization, (4th Street Corridor in Reno,) second year design. 2) Student charette, "Year of the Enlisted Man" garden and memorial for the Nevada Air National. 3) Student charette, two consecutive years completed landscape renovation designs for the Veterans. "Two memories come to mind, both are fairly recent. The first is the approval by the Reno City Council of Design Guidelines for the revitalization of Old Highway U.S. 40 (4th Street) Corridor. This was prepared by the Second Year Design students at Truckee Meadows Community College. This proved that the curriculum being taught was good and that the students could hold their own when they went off to complete their degrees. The second is the memories of the past decade of my involvement with the Council of Landscape Architectural Registration Boards. My tenure culminated with my Presidency in 1997. Many national and international themes where taking place and I was a part of it. Advice to others entering this field or in this field would be to get involved. You not only help yourself, you help the profession."
