Laurie D. Olin graduated from the University of Alaska, Civil Engineering Curriculum in 1957 and the University of Washington, Architecture in 1961. He has been recognized for his work in a number of different projects all over the landscaping field. Olin is known for his advance levels of think in terms of landscape architecture and has received several awards for his contributions to the landscape community. He has received the Honor Award from the American Institute of Architects in 1998, the Excellence Award for Public Projects from the Urban Land Institute, New York in 1996, and many more. He was inducted as a Fellow of the American Society of Landscape Architects in 1999
