Kenneth S. Nakaba graduated from California State Polytechnic University in 1968 and Pacific Oaks College, Human Development in 1979. Nakaba is a highly regarded teacher in the landscape industry, who has been praised for his ability to bring out the best in his students using a positive attitude and high levels of professionalism. He has received numerous awards for his success in this field. He was awarded the Provost's Award for Excellence from Cal Poly Pomona in 2014 and the Outstanding Advisor Award from Cal Poly Pomona in 1984, 2002, 2007, and 2010. This led to his induction as a Fellow of the American Society of Landscape Architects in 1997.
