Herbert R. Schaal graduated from State University of New York in 1972 and California State Polytechnic University in 1962. He has been a large part of the landscaping industry and the ASLA community. His contributions include being the speaker and the program planner for the National and Regional conferences. He has been a recipient of a multitude of awards for his services. A few include the ASLA Merit Award from Grand Canyon Landscape Program in 1987 and the California State Polytechnic University, Outstanding Graduate in LA in 1962. This lead to his induction as a Fellow of the American Society of Landscape Architects in 1990.
