Derr A. Carpenter graduated from Pennsylvania State University in 1953. He has been a part of major architectural projects that range all over the landscaping field. He has worked on memorials, churches, shopping centers, and several more structures. For his efforts in the landscaping industry he has been the recipient of many awards including the Service to Youth Award from the Greater Harrisburg YMCA in 1981. He was inducted as a Fellow of the American Society of Landscape Architects in 1983.
