Robert H. Mortensen graduated from Ohio State University in 1961 and The University of Michigan in 1965. Mortensen embarked on a career of planning and designing parks that would take him all over the world into countries such as England, Greece, Argentina, Japan, and much more. He has received numerous awards for his success in landscape architecture. He was awarded the Montgomery County, MD Award of Excellence for Clyde's at Tower Oaks in 2004 and the ASLA Distinguished Service Award in 1975, This led to his induction as a Fellow of the American Society of Landscape Architects in 1980.
