On January 18, 2008, PBSJ Corp. presented its annual award for ethical business conduct and integrity to Christine Burkholder, a senior landscape architect in the planning and landscape architecture division of PBSJ in Atlanta, Georgia.
Ms. Burkholde, who has been with PBSJ for four years, was honored at the company’s annual manager’s meeting in Orlando. The award recognized her actions in resolving a complex issue involving two clients.
“I was quite surprised and overwhelmed when my name was announced. It’s great to work for a company where concerns can be brought forward with confidence that they will be taken seriously,” Ms. Burkholde commented.
The Melissa Eubanks Award for Ethics and Compliance was named for its first recipient in January 2006. In 2005, Ms. Eubanks discovered an embezzlement scheme within PBSJ. In 2006, the company launched an internal business ethics and compliance initiative, including introducing an award to honor extraordinary actions or behaviors that exemplify a strong commitment to ethical business conduct and integrity.
PBSJ is an employee-owned corporation headquartered in Tampa that provides infrastructure planning, engineering, construction, environmental consulting, urban planning and architecture management services.
