In December, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) released the Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure (SPCC) Requirements Rule Amendments. The amendments become effective on February 3, 2009.
Facility owners and operators need to review changes to determine if new exemptions apply and if the new self-certification plan template can be used. If so, plans should revised without delay to meet compliance deadlines.

These new rules apply to superintendents due to exemptions for hot mix asphalt, pesticide application and equipment and related mix containers, and residential heating oil containers.
