Environmental Stewardship Program

Entergy to Launch With Employees

NEW ORLEANS, LA

Entergy is launching an environmental stewardship program with its employees to fund worthwhile environmental projects in communities the company serves or that host Entergy facilities.

The program seeks employee involvement in community-based projects designed to enhance or preserve the environment. Each project selected will be eligible for an award of up to $10,000. A total of $150,000 is available for projects in 2000.

One key criterion for selection is that the project goes beyond environmental compliance required by laws or regulations. Another is that the Entergy employee applying for the project award be personally involved in the project.

"Entergy has one of the best environmental records of any major utility, but we need to keep advancing our commitment to the environment," said Deanna Rodriguez, vice president of Corporate Contributions at Entergy.

"This program will couple our corporate support for the environment with our employees' interest in individual environmental stewardship projects."

The program will be administered through an employee committee headed by Jim Mutch, director, System Environmental Support for Entergy. Applications should be received no later than March 17, 2000 and awards will be announced on April 25, just after Earth Day 2000.

Entergy is a major U.S.-based global energy company with power production, distribution operations, and related diversified services and has about 2.5 million customers in portions of Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Texas.
