CLEVELAND ?EUR" The Cleveland Botanical Garden recently announced that a new $800,000 public garden will welcome visitors to the Garden and its Eleanor Armstrong Smith Glasshouse upon completion of construction and renovation in September 2003. The public garden will be the first of several public spaces contemplated in the master plan for the University Circle area of Cleveland to make its 45 institutions more approachable, encourage pedestrian and bicycle traffic, and to eventually foster a rebirth of housing and retail development in the area. The design of the Garden will provide entry to Cleveland Botanical Garden; maximize the special synergies between the Case Western Reserve University campus, the Cleveland Museum of Art, Wade Oval and Cleveland Botanical Garden; and create an accessible area for public use. The public entry garden, a unique collaboration between Cleveland Botanical Garden and the commercial green industry, is in addition to the current renovation of Cleveland Botanical Garden and construction of the $37 million Glasshouse.
