Ed Brown Playground Celebrates Aviation

Cre8Play's DC-8 has landed safely at Maclearie Park in Belmar, NJ. Situated just a few short miles from the Monmouth Executive Airport, Ed Brown playground features maps similar to the real airport's runways. This all-inclusive play environment includes a ramp that stretches all the way into the airplane cockpit.

Ed Brown was a pilot, aviation pioneer, businessman and journalist. He was a tireless champion of the free enterprise system. With the help of Belmar, N.J. in 1940, Brown founded an airport at the age of 23 that he built into one of the largest in the nation. The town had an old tank that was sitting around. They told him if he could start it he could have it.

Brown got it started and welded an I beam to the front of the tank to help flatten out the land where the current airport sits. This playground is dedicated in his memory in gratitude to Belmar for helping to make a young man's American Dream come true. The Brown family helped design the playground by working with MRC, GameTime and Cre8Play to create a playground that is one of a kind. For more information visit www.Cre8Play.com.

''Ed Brown was the original owner of Monmouth Executive Airport,'' said Don Cooper, Cre8Play representative. ''The township of Belmar was there for him when he needed equipment to make the original runway. He was forever grateful for the opportunity that Belmar granted him and left behind funding for a new park. Its projects like this that have meaning behind them that make my job so rewarding. I was able to get creative here and make a one of a kind playground.''
