Eastmark: The Great Park

Mesa, Arizona
by Jack Anderson

The Eastmark Great Park, found in Mesa, Arizona, recently added some new attractions such as "The Disco." Open to the public, this 18-hole disk golf course boasts beautiful terrain, lighted walking paths, as well as 10 exercise stations.
With winding fairways and forgiving greens, "The Disco" was designed for all skill levels to enjoy the growing game of disc golf.
More than a skatepark, "The Deck" can be thought of as a community focal point, gathering spot, and social hub.
Every feature in the park is skateable, even the benches, walls, handrails, and stairs. It has beginner and advanced pump tracks, ramps, and quarter pipes, along with shade structures, seating areas, and open green spaces.
"The Deck," aka Eastmark skatepark, is located in a 4.1-acre park in Mesa, Arizona, and contains a mix of seemingly every type of skate surface one would need: street, vert, plaza, and even pump tracks.

Located on the former site of the General Motor Proving Grounds, Eastmark is an ongoing award-winning master-planned community in Mesa, Arizona. Known for its vast network of outdoor spaces, Eastmark hosts over 40 neighborhood parks as well as the 96-acre Great Park.
Placed at the center of the community, The Eastmark Great Park features endless outdoor amenities. Ranging from splashpads and playgrounds to baseball fields and even a bio-intensive farm and market, The Great Park seamlessly connects individuals to their natural surroundings. Linked together by grass fields, open paths, and winding trails, the park continues to be the focal point of Eastmark for guests and residents alike, and has recently introduced two new features, courtesy of anderson, from Phoenix, Arizona: a disc golf course and a skatepark.

The Disco
Growing in-sync with the community, The Great Park has recently expanded to include two of the now most popular neighborhood attractions. Winding its way south of Elliot Road is Eastmark's official disc golf course named, "The Disco." The Disco is an 18-hole course open to all skill levels. Starting on decomposed granite tee boxes, players guide their way down tree lined fairways, walk along lighted pathways, and enjoy a variety of exercise machines in between. Finishing on challenging yet forgiving greens, guests will putt their way into the growing game of disc golf.
After a round at The Disco, guests can relax at one of newly built ramadas and grass spaces found throughout the area or go check out the other exciting addition to Eastmark.

The Deck
Completed in Spring 2022, Eastmark opened "The Deck." The Deck is the community's official skatepark and is one of the most recognizable in the valley. Adorned by an entrance monument of over 100 recycled skateboard decks, the park is situated in a 4.1-acre open turf/grass field on Eastmark's main boulevard.

Beginning in the flat ground plaza, skaters are welcomed to endless benches and ledges before making their way to the volcano, down the stair set, and into the multi-tiered quarter pipes. Not only is every part of The Deck skateable, but the park was similarly designed to cater to the varying styles and levels of skateboarding. It features beginner and advanced pump tracks, ramps, rails, numerous shade structures, seating areas, and open green spaces for friends and family. This has allowed The Deck to be thought of as more than a skatepark but a community gathering spot and social hub.
