Scapes and TruGreen LandCare tie the knot

Scapes Inc., the award-winning landscape architecture firm that produced such projects as Reston Streetscapes and AOL headquarters in Dulles, Virginia has been acquired by TruGreen LandCare.

The merger will result in a $4 million landscape management branch in Ashburn, Virginia led by Fred Peratt, and a $3 million design/build branch led by Barry Schneider. The Atlanta, Georgia location of Scapes will be joining TruGreen's Southeast Region of operation.

Terms of the sale include all commercial landscape operations, residential and commercial design-build operations, all trucks and equipment, and the transfer of 100 employees.

Ken Hochkeppel, Vice President and Mid-Atlantic Region Manager for TruGreen LandCare emphasizes that the decision to acquire Scapes was "based on the enormous benefits that the union could provide to our clients, our employees and our vendors. We share many of the same customer and employee philosophies, yet Scapes has a number of fresh, new ideas to bring to the table. It was a good business move for everyone involved."
