Dufresne-Henry to Design Layout, Landscape Architecture for Bayshore Live Oak Park

CHARLOTTE HARBOR, Fla.?EUR??,,????'??+The Southwest Florida-based engineering and landscape architecture firm of Dufresne-Henry has been selected by the Charlotte County Facilities Construction Division to provide civil engineering design, landscape architecture design, and construction monitoring services for the long-planned Bayshore Live Oak Park on Charlotte Harbor.

The 9.5-acre public park is a key component of the Charlotte Harbor Community Redevelopment project. Dufresne-Henry, which had earlier developed a conceptual park plan for the county?EUR??,,????'???s consideration, began work on the final design of the park layout in mid-March 2004. The design will include bicycle and pedestrian paths, canoe and kayaking facilities, greenscapes, and stormwater handling facilities. The project is expected to cost approximately $3 million to build, with construction expected to be completed in late 2005.

Dufresne-Henry began with Robert Dufresne and Walter Henry in 1955 when the two friends, both young highway engineers, left positions with the Vermont Agency of Transportation to start their own business in the state. Today the firm has offices throughout New England, New York and Florida. In addition to engineering, the firm specializes in planning, environmental science, landscape architecture, and supports a contract operations division that provides assistance in operating municipal and industrial water and wastewater treatment facilities.
