SANFORD, FL
Dragon Environmental Corporation announced today that the New Super Dragon completed the dredging of a boat canal in less than half the normal time. The surrounding area is an environmentally sensitive saltwater marsh located between Daytona Beach and the Kennedy Space Center in East Central Florida's coastal wetlands.
Dragon Environmental hydraulically dredged accumulated sand, silt, and organic material from the canal in order to restore the canal bottom to original dimensions. The canal is 170 feet long, 20 feet wide at ramp tapering to 10 feet wide at intersection of Inter Coastal Waterway. The target depth is 3 feet below water level at low tide, a depth that is currently not possible due to the build up of sand over the years. There is no practical way to bring in a trackhoe, backhoe or dragline to perform this work. Dragon's unique technology allows for the removal of the sand at distances of up to several hundred feet from the problem areas without causing any damage to the pristine and environmentally sensitive area, an issue that is extremely important to management, owners of the property and regulatory agencies.
Dragon Environmental's specialized pumping equipment is used to hydraulically extract the material, pump it into the Sand Dragon where the sand and settled materials are dewatered, placed in a pile on the ground for convenient reuse by the client with the water immediately returned to the waterway. There is no chemical or biological change to the water during this process.
