The coalition is also urging DoT to make this information more useful and understandable for citizens by requiring the data to be geo-coded so that transportation investment patterns can be viewed using maps. APA is a part of this broad coalition and is working to ensure that the final regulations require Metropolitan Planning Organizations to collect and make available to the public geographically coded data on expenditures of federal transportation dollars.

This data should be nationally standardized, comparable among regions, electronic, geographically specific, and readily accessible to help planners and communities make better decisions about transportation investments.
