Online Survey of Graduating Students

Of the 327 landscape architecture graduating students responding to the 2015 ASLA Survey, half had started or accepted a job at the time of the survey. The average starting salary was approximately $43,700. The undergraduates reported an average starting salary of about $40,900; those with graduate degrees reported an average starting salary of $47,300.

The ASLA contracted the Lewis&Clark marketing firm to conduct an online survey of graduating students at accredited undergraduate and gradate landscape architecture programs in the spring and summer of 2015. The 2015 Graduating Student Survey https://tinyurl.com/za7v487 yielded 327 respondents: 52% undergrads; 48% graduate students.

The average age of undergraduate respondents was 25, and 29 for graduate students. This is similar to previous years. The respondents were 53% female; 47% male; 68% were Caucasian; 20% Asian/Pacific Islanders; 8% Hispanic; 1% Black; 1% American Indian; and 3% other.

Half of the survey respondents (147) to the "2015 ASLA Survey of Graduating Students" reported having received at least one job offer at the time they completed the survey questionnaire, up from 43% in the 2014 survey.

During their final semester in school, 43% of respondents had no job interviews; 19% had one; 17% had two; 7% had three; 4% had four; 5% had 5; 5% had 6-10 job interviews; and 1% had 11 or more.

At the time the survey was completed, half of the respondents (147) had started or accepted a job. Of the other 147 respondents, half had no job offers; 33% had one offer; 12% had two offers; 3% had three offers; and 2% had four or more offers.
