Eastman?EUR??,,????'???s new Perennial Wood decking is a real wood that is warranted to protect against rot, decay and movement for 25 years. Courtesy of Eastman
Most wood furniture and decking erode away and rot after years of outdoor use. That?EUR??,,????'???s why a new product can be a boon to the landscape industry, in particular for outdoor living designers.
Perennial Wood decking was launched Feb. 8 at the International Builder Show in Orlando. Fla. Also currently being introduced to the furniture market, it?EUR??,,????'???s a beautiful real wood that has been improved upon by science to resist changes from moisture and weather elements for decades (warranted for 25 years). Manufactured by Eastman, this product is a major development in sustainable, long-lasting wood technology.
This type of wood is not an artificial composite, nor is it molded from plastic or pressure treated with heavy metals. It is real wood that?EUR??,,????'???s warranted for 25 years to protect against rot, decay and movement. This is made possible through a proprietary TruLast Technology, which uses heat, pressure and an organic compound to modify the wood throughout the entire board.
TruLast Technology is three times more stable than unmodified wood, resulting in less shrinking and swelling that cause cracking, cupping and warping without sacrificing the beauty of real wood.
The initial product offering is decking, which will be available in Lowe?EUR??,,????'???s stores and select building materials retailers and deck dealers in New England starting in March. The company is exploring additional exterior applications for Perennial Wood, such as outdoor furniture (underway) and windows and doors.
?EUR??,,????'??Eastman is proud to bring Perennial Wood to the residential construction and remodeling market,?EUR??,,????'?? said Greg W. Nelson, senior vice president. ?EUR??,,????'??Perennial Wood is Eastman's latest advancement for that market and one that is founded on years of research and application of our employees' technical expertise and insight into technology and scientific processes.?EUR??,,????'??
In 2010 13 percent of the company?EUR??,,????'???s revenues were derived from sales of materials, chemicals and polymers to building and construction manufacturers.
