Gaumer, a professional in the Green Industry for more than 40 years, has served as president of the Green Industry and Equipment Expo (GIE+EXPO) as well as a member of the boards of PGMS and the American Landscape Contractors Association. He is an ISA Certified Arborist and a PLANET Certified Landscape Professional.

The Professional Grounds Management Society (PGMS) honored George M. Gaumer, vice president and general manager of Davey Commercial Landscape Services in Kent, Ohio, with its Gold Medal Award.

The PGMS Gold Medal Award is presented to recognize outstanding, long-term achievements and contributions to the green industry. Previous Gold Medal Award recipients include Chicago Mayor Richard M. Daley and the late Alex Shigo, who served as chief scientist for the USDA Forest Service.
