Daisy Stocking Park

Daytona Beach, Florida
by Castle Bay Design Studio

The design of Daisy Stocking Park focused on bringing new life and energy to an underutilized but highly valued downtown park space with an ever-increasing usage for many of the City's most acclaimed events, art shows, and musical performances.

The Parks Issue of Landscape Architect and Specifier News saw many firms submit their projects for feature consideration. The Daisy Stocking Park is one of several great projects we are excited to showcase on LandscapeArchitect.com.

Dedicated to Daisy T. Stocking, one of Daytona Beach's foremost African American humanitarians and medical practitioners, and close friend of Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune, Daisy Stocking Park is located in the center of Daytona Beach adjacent to Bethune-Cookman College. Among the many dynamic and unique park elements, Mrs. Stocking's life is remembered through a walkable timeline marking the many contributions she made to the community and Nation. Park users are often in awe of the custom, architecturally dynamic shade structure placed over an elevated stage and seating area, multiple park elements custom designed by Castle Bay, including a pair of Castle Bay designed 15' tall Daisy Stocking silhouette gateway features at the park entrance which began as studio hand sketches, custom family-style pavilions with coquina-clad barbecue grills, play features, pedestrian level lighting, and vibrant landscaping throughout.
