Creating a Buzz with TruGrain
Almost Indistinguishable from Tropical Wood

TruGrain• made with Resysta® products are already creating a buzz among top new building products. They have been included on many lists, including the 2014 "This Old House Top 100" list of best new residential products, which listed TruGrain decking and porch boards.

Additionally, the editors of Green Builder magazine picked TruGrain for its 2015 annual Hot 50 list of new sustainable products due to its unique composition of a natural material - rice husks.

TruGrain• products combine natural materials in a proprietary blend to achieve the look and feel of natural wood without impacting a single tree. It is available in façade, siding, decking and porch board profiles. TruGrain products contain rice husks, an agricultural waste by-product.

When combined with a synthetic plastic polymer, salt and other additives, the result is almost indistinguishable from tropical wood. TruGrain products provide the same workability, design flexibility and beautiful finish as wood. Most importantly, TruGrain products are water-resistant and will not swell, shrink or crack, resulting in great durability and long life span.

TruGrain is used in several diverse commercial and residential projects including:

New Vinyl Institute headquarters, Washington D.C. - TruGrain is prominently displayed along with other sustainable design and construction strategies. The use of materials like TruGrain helped the project earn a Green Globe Certification from the Green Building Institute.

Nic on 5th, Minneapolis, Minn. - the 27-story luxury LEED Silver residential tower (shown above) by Opus Design Build has been called a market changing project for downtown Minneapolis. The amenity deck atop the garage has an outdoor bar with a pool, spa and sunning decks made with TruGrain. Designers chose the material for easy workability and low long-term maintenance.

Lake House Retreat, Winter Haven, Fla. – Award-winning firm STRANG Architecture designed this luxury custom home (shown above) for indoor/outdoor living and sustainability. TruGrain is used extensively on exterior and interior feature walls, soffits and around the pool. Max Strang cited the product's aesthetics, "It definitely adds a touch of warmth to what is otherwise a clean, white stucco house."

P.F. Chang's, various locations - Aria Architects specializes in upscale hospitality projects in the U.S. and Mexico. During early design phases, the firm focused heavily on viable solutions to meet both space and branding requirements. Aria used TruGrain as an exterior screenwall to highlight the restaurant signage; designers wanted a product that was UV resistant, with a finish similar to wood and available in various stain colors.

Renee Havrilla, vice president of Westlake Building Products commented, "TruGrain is the only synthetic product on the market today with the look and feel of exotic wood varieties. You can cut, sand, stain and use it like wood. But the real beauty of the product is that it's incredibly durable and will last much longer than wood. The fact that TruGrain helps architects and builders achieve their sustainability goals is an added bonus."
