The Council of Landscape Architectural Registration Boards (CLARB) had a very full year and is excited to revisit announcements made and share news with you!
In continuing its work to keep the Landscape Architect Registration Examination (L.A.R.E.) relevant, defensible, and accessible, CLARB announced process changes in January 2022 that would move CLARB's test administration partner from Pearson VUE to PSI. With this move, exam functionality and test centers changed for all exam candidates, in addition to creating additional access to sections 3 and 4 as all four sections of the exam would be available through online proctoring as of the April 2022 administration. More information on these changes can be found on CLARB's website: www.clarb.org/take-the-exam/2022-l.a.r.e.-announcements" onclick="window.open(trackOutboundLink('http://www.clarb.org/take-the-exam/2022-l.a.r.e.-announcements'); return false;)" target="_blank">www.clarb.org/take-the-exam/2022-l.a.r.e.-announcements
Following this announcement, CLARB launched its Job/Task Analysis- a survey of the entire profession of landscape architecture, conducted every 5-7 years, and is used to evaluate content on the L.A.R.E. as it relates to current practice. With a great response rate and reporting released in the summer, CLARB announced content changes to the L.A.R.E. which will take effect in December 2023. For the next year (three exam administrations), CLARB will be in an exam transition and encouraging exam candidates to ensure they have met equivalency requirements as it relates to the newly announced transition chart and exam blueprint. ???,???To learn more about the changes coming to the L.A.R.E. in December 2023, visit CLARB's website: www.clarb.org/take-the-exam/2023-l.a.r.e.-changes CLARB staff is also available to assist any candidate in navigating how this change affects their individual exam record.
Outside of the L.A.R.E., in April, CLARB's member boards (licensing/regulation boards across the United States and Canada) voted to adopt a Uniform Licensure Standard for Landscape Architecture. CLARB's Uniform Standard is a set of recommended standards for licensure that landscape architectural licensure boards can adopt and implement to create common, consistent licensure requirements across jurisdictions which can reduce confusion and barriers to entry for candidates while creating consistency, defensibility, and encouraging mobility.
And at CLARB's Annual Meeting of its membership in September, the Board of Directors announced a new strategic framework called CLARB 2.0 which will guide the organization's goals and objectives into the future. This framework will be used to outline projects and create additional ways to serve member boards, Council Record holders, and exam candidates.
