Corporations Augment EPA Funds for Community Composting Good news for Landscape Architects and planners who want to direct their clients to find funds for composting programs within community projects! Recent contributions -- from the University of Hawaii ($30,000); Wal-Mart, Rodale Press, the Composting Council ($10,000 each); and others -- are helping the Composting Council Research and Education Foundation utilize a $60,000 USEPA grant to expand their National Backyard Composting Program to include community projects. Call (703) 739-2401 or comcouncil@aol.com. Even with Composting Council funding available, the success of most operations that serve whole communities or business centers "depends on the willingness of the private sector to take on the task of public education," said Composting Council Executive VP Charlie Cannon.
