Contractors Winning Big

Landscape maintenance companies are finding work with cash strapped cities. In California, the Laguna Woods City Council approved a contract with Nieves Landscape to maintain public property in the city for the next two years. The landscaping company was awarded a $127,665 per-year service contract. Services will include 180 hours per week trimming trees and shrubs, mowing grass in medians and parkways, litter control, weeding and pest control, and cleaning sidewalks and gutters.

The city also has the option to extend the agreement with Nieves for up to an additional six years, according to a city report. Nieves Landscape also works with the cities of Mission Viejo, Lake Forest, Orange and Laguna Hills.
