On July 21 Organizations and businesses, including landscape professionals and PLANET members from 27 states congregated at Arlington Cemetery to express patriotism and put their green thumbs to work.

The 612 acres of Arlington National Cemetery serve as a physical tribute to more than 260,000 American soldiers. The immense landscape that symbolizes patriotism is changing, literally. Organizations and businesses from 27 states congregated at this powerful site to express patriotism and put their green thumbs to work.

Attendees dedicate hours of manpower to honor the nation and those serving the country by enhancing the grounds at Arlington National Cemetery under the "Renewal and Remembrance" program, which began in 1996. Lawns, gravesites and walkways were manicured and enhanced with added attention. In addition, members of PLANET (Professional Land Care Network) joined forces to host a "Day on the Hill" with their legislative representatives to address key initiatives in the industry such as guest worker quotas, small business health plans and to promote effective water policy. Among the participants was Lawn Doctor which has participated in "Renewal and Remembrance" and "Day on the Hill" events for 11 years. The company is instrumental in bridging current legislative concerns with the things customers and franchisees value.
