Conn. ASLA Chapter Awards 2009 Scholarships

The Connecticut Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects (CTASLA) has named Michael Rettenmeier of Ashford, Conn., and Deborah Zervas of New Haven as the 2009 CTASLA Student Scholarship recipients.

Mr. Rettenmeier received a $2,500 scholarship, while Ms. Zervas was awarded $1,500. These scholarships, funded in part from proceeds from the chapter?EUR??,,????'?????<






Deborah Zervas is pursuing a MLA at the University of Massachusetts. Her thesis proposal is for a theoretical and experimental study of collage as a medium to express all aspects of landscape.

Michael Rettenmeier is pursuing a BS in landscape architecture at the University of Connecticut. He is passionate about his choice of major, and enjoys being able to solve problems with landscaping, while also expressing his ideas through design.

Deborah Zervas is enrolled in the landscape architecture and regional planning program at the University of Massachusetts and seeks an MLA degree. Deborah finds the field of landscape urbanism the most challenging and intriguing. Both a visual artist and designer, her thesis proposal is for a theoretical and experimental study of collage as a medium to express all aspects of landscape.
