The old boardwalk, certainly a quintessential part of the old amusement park, will soon be that only in name. Of course, some people are complaining about the change of this ?EUR??,,????'?????<?????????????????iconic?EUR??,,????'?????<????????????????? stretch, but parks officials say the planks resemble wood and are easier to maintain than real wood. ?EUR??,,????'?????<?????????????????Maintain?EUR??,,????'?????<????????????????? is the key word, but the new planks have already suffered some damage. There are a number of broken screws, probably the result of park and police vehicles riding over the walk. The parks department reports it is now using a more secure method to install the planks. The concrete walk will no doubt be a little warmer on the feet than the wood, but New Yorkers are certainly habituated to concrete walks. Compared to the hot summer sand, the concrete will feel cool, if not look cool. |
