Designed to be a collaborative living environment, this new, $19 million residence hall at Concordia University increased the on-campus living capacity by 86%, providing space for 234 new students. Significant topographic changes were considered to create a usable outdoor space complete with an amphitheater at the center and additional tables and chairs throughout that provide space for events and for students to gather, study, eat or, hang out. Winding paths allow for additional circulation throughout the space and connect the hall to other buildings on campus. Stone retaining walls were added to accommodate additional tree and shrub planting. Due to Regents Hall's location adjacent to a nature preserve, environmental guidelines were followed, existing trees were preserved, and sustainable elements such as rain gardens and a biofiltration pond were included.
